Profile and Description
The Lead Teacher is an individual charged with the duty of teaching young children between the ages of six weeks through five years. Teachers have direct interaction with the children and hold the enormous responsibility of nurturing, educating, and molding very pliable little lives. Teachers provide children with an environment that is both caring and secure where they grow
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare lesson plans for the children on a daily basis at least one week in advance
- Preparing creative activities that all children can participate in
- Preparing games and outdoor activities children can engage
- Monitor children’s progress and development
- Prepare daily reports for each child
- Prepare reports on children’s development
- Alert the center director of any developments
- Oversee the delivery of nutritious lunches and snacks
- Develop activities and teaching programs that are culturally and spiritually appropriate
- Supervise children AT ALL TIMES
- Comfort children
- Establish routines
- Initiating discipline in a positive manner
- Promoting early education and literacy
- Reading books to children
- Attending to basic needs of children
- Label and organize classroom learning materials
- Plan and supervise class projects
- Be able to adapt and work well under pressure
