Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Background verification check
- Read staff policy and procedure handbook and acknowledge that you understand its directives
- Fill out required forms to be kept in your personnel file
- Wear hairnet or hat while in the kitchen
- 4 hours of food and nutrition training (or willing to obtain)
- Be able to lift up to forty pounds
Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly menus that reflect all Food Program requirements
- Work with Administration Team for approvals
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks for all classrooms
- Serve meals to each classroom on time, and at the appropriate temperature
- Work with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation of each meal
- Prepare appropriate amounts of food for each classroom, as per food program guidelines
- Place weekly food orders through approved vendors
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including all food storage areas
- Make sure all thermometers are working properly
- Ensure all food items are checked for expiration dates
- Wash and sanitize all dishes
- Clean the entire kitchen and appliances throughout the day
- Remove and dispose of trash and recyclables daily
- Organize and store groceries, food orders including non-food items
- Turn in all kitchen expense receipts and prepared food item labels (CN labels) to the Administration Team
- Protect the privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to families, children, team members, and administration
- Build positive, respectful relationships and communications with families, children, team members, administration, Board of Directors, and the communities in which we serve
Education Requirements
Minimum of four hours of annual training in
- Menu Planning
- Food Program Training
- Food Safety and Nutrition
- Other food related topics
